What we do

Steady programmes. Real rooms. Real schedules.

Our work is mostly classes and shared activities. The calendar is the strategy: show up every week, teach well, and measure whether people keep coming and growing.

Core programmes

Four pillars of the week

Each pillar has a lead facilitator, a simple curriculum, and a way we check progress.

01

Learning for children

After-school reading circle and homework support. We assess reading level at entry and again at six months. Groups stay small, never more than eight per tutor.

Twice weekly
02

Skills for adults

Literacy, form-filling, and basic digital skills. Sessions move at the learner’s pace. Graduates leave with a short portfolio: email set up, CV draft, and practice applications.

Twice weekly
03

Youth life skills

Workshops on money, conflict, work readiness, and peer mentoring. We invite local employers for mock interviews twice a year so practice meets the real world.

Weekly
04

Gathering & care

Community garden, shared meals, and open studio. These are not extras. They are how lonely people find a reason to return, and how trust forms between generations.

Weekend
How we run it

Viability means we can keep the doors open next month.

Programmes only matter if they survive. We keep costs visible: hall time, materials, facilitator hours, and a small reserve for emergencies (transport, food shortfalls, broken equipment).

When a class underperforms (low attendance, weak outcomes), we change the format or pause it. Continuity without quality is not loyalty; it is waste.

What we invest

Prepared lessonsFacilitators plan ahead; volunteers receive a one-page guide each week
Attendance & notesSimple paper logs turned into monthly summaries for the board
Follow-up callsWhen someone disappears for three weeks, we check in once, gently

What we look for

Return rateDo people come back without being chased?
Skill movementCan a child read more fluently? Can an adult send an email alone?
Belonging signalsDo learners bring a friend, stay after, or volunteer themselves?
